Real Gyarus of Tokyo

Undermind worked directly with the Korean fashion brand YieYie to bring a collaborative editorial to life titled "Real Gyarus of Tokyo." We joined forces with the keen-eyed Tokyo-based photographer Shiori Ota and produced by Marco Fabrizio. This collaboration with the avant-garde Korean clothing label YieYie crafts a photographic voyage that urges viewers to step back from the incessant hum of the digital realm and immerse themselves in the immediate present.

This series is a heartfelt ode to authenticity, introspective journeys, and the transformative power of genuine camaraderie, especially in a modern society where relationships are increasingly mediated and molded by the omnipresent digital sphere. “Real Gyarus in Tokyo” paints a vivid portrait of the odyssey embarked upon by two eminent Japanese models as they traverse the winding streets, intricate alleys, and boulevards of Tokyo.

Our visual narrative isn’t confined to the oft-trodden paths of Tokyo’s more commercialized regions. Instead of aligning with the more often-used areas of Harajuku or Shibuya, we delve deep into the heart of Tokyo’s historically-rich enclaves such as Jinbo-Cho and Ginza. These locations are not mere geographical points; they are time capsules that encapsulate the timeless essence and iconic historical tapestry of Tokyo’s culture.
